Some leaks are very hard to find! Say for example, your pipe is made of pvc plastic. Pvc does not transmit leak sounds very well and is therefore extremely hard to locate leaks on. Another tough leak to find is on an very large or older piping system were the location of piping is not known. Leak detection using hydrogen as a tracer gas could be the answer! Using this method, the system is drained and a mixture of nitrogen and hydrogen is fed into the system. then, using a gas detector, the leak can be found.
